Joyland preschool is one of the largest and longest running private preschool programs in Norwalk CA. The school, which began in the 1940’s, and has expanded its day care and educational programs from infant and toddlers to include the first grade. This preschool operates year round and caters to the needs of working parents.

Joyland owns and operates several locations. The site for this particular property was purchased years previously with the intent of expanding with new construction. As the need for preschool programs has grown, so has the need for new facilities and this Norwalk site afforded the opportunity for growth.

CMA was retained to develop options for the site’s development. The program that was developed includes three classrooms and a small administrative office component with an outdoor playground. The selected design solution is both playful and cost effective, employing simple forms and materials with a playful, yet sophisticated, color palette. The building is lively, creating a fun and active learning environment for the children.
